As a Director, Tax Advisory & Planning ("TAP") on the Tax Planning team within the Wealth Planning organization, you'll play a pivotal role by helping clients and prospects with tax strategies so they can plan for their future and accomplish their long-term goals. You will identify tax optimized solutions and provide tax guidance that will enhance EFE's mission and expand our overall value proposition to both clients and Planners. As the Director, TAP, you will help define and lead our tax planning strategies, programs, policies, and projects - all to add more value to our Planners and clients.

• Internal Business Partnerships (e.g., Compliance, Legal, Wealth Planning, etc.)
  Responsibilities:
  • Working directly with clients, prospects, and Planners to help consult and advise directly on tax implications, liabilities, and strategies as they relate to a comprehensive financial plan
  • Communicating effectively and efficiently to enquiries from Planners and Leadership.
  • Keeping current with accounting and tax issues, new trends, best practices, and legislative changes
  • Creating and analyzing tax projections with tax planning software (CCH Tax Planning preferred)
  • Building an increasingly robust tax planning offering, including growing a team of tax professionals and instilling best practices across the team
  • Recommending and drafting internal and external tax training topics and content for Planners, clients, and potential clients
  • Working closely with partners to define and deliver new tax service enhancements relative to new needs and optimization
  • Creating overall tax planning standards and practices and ensure adherence; ensuring all tax practices adhere to regulatory standards
  • Taking the initiative in thought leadership, innovation, and creativity
  • Preparing, reviewing, and signing a variety of tax returns at the federal and potentially multi-state specific level (as needed during tax season)
  • Able to assist tax department personnel with client matters, including responding to notices from taxing agencies, assistance with IRS examinations, and preparation of client advice letters
    Qualifications:
    • Holds a CPA license, Enrolled Agent certificate, or LLM (Master of Law in Tax) in good standing
    • Holds a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or finance and is in good standing
    • 5 years plus public accounting experience in tax return preparation and consultation / planning; experience with a big 4 or national firm preferred
    • Previous experience as a Tax Manager with responsibilities of preparation, review, and signing on behalf of the organization
    • Breadth and in-depth knowledge with leading tax teams in consultancy / planning and/or preparation
    • Experience with preparation of personal & business tax returns using CCH Wolters Kluwer software (Axcess and/or Pro System fx preferred)
    • Experience with tax planning software (CCH Tax Planning preferred)
    • Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office
    • Detail oriented, exceptional follow through, and reliable
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform work efficiently to meet deadlines
    • Able to work effectively as part of a team yet function well with independent responsibilities and autonomy
    • Adept at learning and adapting to new technologies and procedures
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels of the firm
    • Experience working with Financial Planners and their teams to create a comprehensive financial planning offering
    • At this time, we are not considering candidates who will be maintaining personal clients, contracting out, or working with other firms. We are looking for a dedicated team member who is exclusively working with Edelman Financial Engines and who will be devoted to our clients and collaborating with the rest of the Tax Planning team.
