Job Summary:--Leads and directs risk management and safety under that larger Quality Management Department of PSJH Physician Enterprise in California including the coordination of all relevant activities as requirements of OSHA, Joint Commission and DMHC. Incorporates goals and performance of quality management, safety, clinical quality and regulatory compliance into the comprehensive risk management programs. Actively moves Physician Enterprise to a prospective, proactive loss prevention, harm-reducing patient safety and risk management program. Interfaces extensively with caregivers, physicians, and administrative leadership in CA physician services to foster an internal culture of shared accountability for surfacing existing and potential risks, holding leaders accountable for developing systems, training on workflows and interacting with caregivers in a just way.-- Works with department leaders to identify and train staff on behaviors and workflows that mitigate and manage risk. Works with internal and external auditors to assess, identify and manage risk. Serves as a representative of PSJH with ASHRM.--Creates and maintains a culture of safety in physician services. Develops, trains and coaches Safety Officers and Safety Representatives at the medical groups and all ambulatory locations. Serves as the key resource to receive and resolve caregiver inquiries on safety issues that may arise during the day. Designs, implements and maintains a facility-wide incident reporting system.Investigates and analyzes actual/potential risks in the group practice. Reports to executive management any serious event involving actual/potential injury to patients, visitors or employees.Assesses liability and probability of legal action for potential notification of insurance carriers. Involves compliance officers, privacy officers and internal legal counsel when necessary.--Organizes and manages the CA Provider Services Risk Management Committee. Includes training of department leaders and caregivers to identify and report risk in their work.----Conducts regular audits to identify and manage risk as soon as possible. Work with internal and external auditors in risk evaluation and follow up. Performs risk surveys and inspects patient care areas. Reviews facility and equipment to assess loss potential. Takes steps to ascertain that risks are minimized through follow-up and actions on all regulatory/insurance survey report recommendations/deficiencies.Works with Director of Audits and Resolution Management to identify potential risk associated with patient dismissals, member and provider notices, denial letters, occurrence reporting, appeals and grievances and resolution management. Work collaboratively to resolve issues and escalate when needed.--SAFETY--Design and/or administer a state-wide provider services safety program.-- Author policies and promote workflows that prevent/minimize loss and abide by OSHA and CMS regulations. Coordinate safety efforts with leaders in operations and facilities.--Analyzes the risk of loss vs. cost of reducing risk.Identify a calendar of drills and work with leadership to hold our leaders in shared services departments and provider office locations accountable.Develops/implements educational programs to reduce/eliminate potential hazards throughout the facility.Required Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in Nursing or other healthcare related field.--Current California RN license.--10+ years of related experience.--3+ years of experience clinical nursing in an acute or ambulatory care setting.Experience with health plans and risk management.Experience in developing educational programs and procedures.8+ years of leadership experience.Knowledge of Title XXII, AAAHC accreditation standards, CDC and infection control standards, building codes, fire life safety codes, OSHA requirements (Title VIII) as well as litigation procedures.--Preferred Qualifications:Masters Degree in Nursing or Law.Experience within SJHH.
