Director of Omni Channel Merchandising: Boys and Newborn
Overview: In this role, you will report into the Head of
Merchandising and lead the merchandise and assortment strategies
across the Boys and Newborn businesses. You will work closely with
the Design Team to identify business opportunities and develop
merchandise strategies for your departments and the brand. This
person will partner with Merchandise Planning to develop and
execute seasonal financial plans by channel, department,
collection, and classification through a clearly defined strategic
plan. This individual will be responsible for performing in-season
business analysis by department, line, and classification to ensure
opportunities are maximized within current and future business
goals. The Director of Merchandising will partner with the
Production team to drive achievement of Costing and IMU goals based
on financial plans. They will also partner with the Marketing and
Visual teams to develop and enhance ongoing in-store and marketing
strategies. The Director of Merchandising will be immersed in the
competitive landscape and customer-obsessed. In addition, this
person will provide leadership and management to his or her
team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and drive pre-season merchandise strategies and
identify product and assortment architecture opportunities that
meet customer needs, deliver profitable growth, and align with
brand goals
- Partner with production and design on product, sourcing, and
costing strategies to build a compelling and profitable line
- Drive in-season business, identifying risks and opportunities
through analysis of departmental, collection, and classification
performance; leverage analysis to drive alignment and strategy
- Partner with Inventory management on investment and allocation
strategy
- Develop and champion deep understanding of target customer and
competitive landscape; incorporate market and consumer information
to maximize product assortment
- Establish and leverage strong partnerships with
cross-functional partners
- Lead, manage and develop merchandising team
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills in oral and written
formats
- Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities with a growth
mindset and a willingness to iterate and improve processes
- Ability to excel in a high-growth, start-up-type environment
with willingness to drive business across multiple
levelsRequirements:
- Bachelor's degree and minimum 7-10 years of merchandising and
product development experience in related business, preferably in a
vertical retail environment
- Excellent product eye and passion for baby and kids
apparel
- Strong track record of successfully driving and developing
businesses
- Sharp business acumen, strategic thinking, and analytical
skills; proven ability to drive both brand and departmental
goals
- Strong self-starter with action-oriented drive; excels in
fast-paced, start-up type environments
- Experience leading and developing a team.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively build relationships and
collaborate across multi-functional teams
- Adept at solving problems/removing obstacles to get work
done/drive execution
- Strong communication and presentation skills
