Our people are the foundation of our success, and we recognize that our ability to sustain our competitive advantage is by investing in the development of our employees, driving innovation, and providing solutions for a better tomorrow.As the Director - Regional Automation Sales, you will report directly to the Division Vice President and can be based out of any of our California or Arizona locations, you will be responsible for overseeing both the Engineering Solutions Group (ESG), distribution and sales teams within the region. This includes leadership of the production facility, ensuring continuous improvement in safety, cost, quality, and delivery. In addition, you will direct the execution of technical projects and provide leadership to operations, quality, and engineering. This role will have full P responsibility over the region; charged to achieve continuous above market profitable rates of growth through the development of market and customer knowledge, sales, and business planning, along with industry relationships. The Southwest region spans California, Arizona, and Nevada.You will be the manager of managers and you will provide the people, processes, and tools essential for best-in-class performance in its subject domain. You will be accountable for cultivating an evolving, rightsized workforce; overseeing performance, merits, and promotions; shepherding Section members' careers through coaching, opportunity matching, and technical development; overseeing negotiation of their deployment onto multiple programs and reconciling demand conflicts; benchmarking their work standards and tools with other Motion business units and with industry trends; and assuring that the Section's work products meet domain quality standards. You will manage a small team of Group Managers to whom most of the Section staff will report as appropriate; in some cases you will directly manage staff. You will justify, advocate for, and manage a capability development budget. You will collaborate with peer Managers and Division (Product) Managers as a member of the Motion Ai Leadership Team.This position requires your dedication to excellent capabilities management - people, processes, and tools - as the foundation for Motion Ai success. It will therefore directly impact company performance and in turn, the history of automation as we enable a future of people living and working in automation.RESPONSIBILITIES Manages the sales territory for Motion Ai by creating and retaining a high performing sales team and providing customer service strategy and support for the area.Creates annual sales plans by sales representative and by supplier.Consistently achieves sales and gross margin quota.Provides monthly reporting on sales, gross margin, bookings, etc.Monitors customer relationship management (CRM) opportunity funnel management by Account Sales Rep and by supplier.Attracting, developing, retaining, and promoting talent for sales, customer service and application engineering. Recruits, hires, and trains staff. Conducts performance management and salary reviews.Supporting the creation and implementation of the Automation's Division strategy and business plan as well as cascading measurable goals and objectives down to the region to ensure clear alignment.Helps lead and promote a One Motion Initiative across the region leading a win/win outcome for all parties involved.Support the groups Engineering Solutions Group in both sales and operations.Develops and manages the regions desired state as it relates to personnel, suppliers, services, and vertical market core customer targets.Develops growth plans as it relates to headcount, territory coverage, account coverage.Drives local marketing initiatives, and corporate strategic initiatives within the local teams, including Gross Margin Improvement, Sales Effectiveness, etc.Develops and coordinates with marketing teams on technology open houses, local tradeshows, marketing campaigns, etc.Maintains a positive rapport with vendors, group personnel and Motion personnel.Sets strategy for the region supplier partnerships working with the MAi Director of Supplier Relations.Works with Financial Services to resolve customer-related credit issues.Manages team's travel and entertainment (T) expenses.Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology or Business MBA is preferred or a related field and seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience in a high technology sales field, ideally, Automation Components and Systems.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Transformational leader who can communicate effectively and create a collaborative culture Proven track record of success managing a technical sales force and engineering support teams Sets clear directives with effective coaching and team building skills Develops and maintains strong customer knowledge base and ongoing relationships Possesses a strong voice of the customer balance with a confidence in developing innovative solutions to meet customer needs Strong strategic leadership skills promoting intuitive selling practices Background in LEAN, manufacturing, and JIT supply chain services a plusPHYSICAL DEMANDS: 50%+ travel requiredLICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS: None required.GPC conducts its business without regard to sex, race, creed, color, religion, marital status, national origin, citizenship status, age, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetic information, disability, military status, status as a veteran, or any other protected characteristic.
