West Anaheim Medical Center is located in Anaheim, CA, so close to Disneyland that it---s nightly fireworks show is visible from the campus parking lot. Its sought-after climate, nearby beaches, amusement parks, museums, renowned restaurants, and diverse night-life attract people from all over the world, all year round. *What we do:* We are a high acuity ER with an admit rate of about 25%. Our patient population age ranges from 0-100+. We have a high geriatric population; therefore, it is important for applicants to be comfortable with the complexities that are associated with this population. PAs work side-by-side with the ED physicians in providing care for whoever comes in the door. The degree of stability of our patients varies from "fast track" to unstable, critically patients of the highest acuity. *Compensation:* * 1099 tax form, incorporated recommended * Full time main ED employees are compensated at $100/hr plus productivity (see Minimum Qualifications) *Minimum Qualifications:* PA candidate for West Anaheim Medical Center, must: 1. For main ED: Have 3 years of Main ED experience that includes having a strong knowledge base in Critical Care/Main Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine in order to make independent critical decisions in patient management 2. Have the ability to multi-task and be adaptable to the unpredictable climate changes of a dynamic ER (our flow can vary drastically in just a few minutes - low patient census one minute to complete saturation with high-acuity patients the next) 3. Have the ability to rapidly recognize if a patient requires immediate MD intervention and then seek out co-management of the patient's care with the ED physician 4. Be comfortable and confidant in presenting patients to admitting MDs and consultants 5. Continuously engage in self-directed learning to remain up to date on current practice evaluation and management recommendations *About us:* The PA program is backed by its strong physician and nursing support group.
