Key Responsibilities
Following standards and procedures to provide timely, accurate, and
friendly service by:
-Ensuring the opening checklist is completed and that the
restaurant is prepared for opening
-In the absence of a host, reviewing reservations, establishing a
floor map for smooth seating, and assigning server sections
-Assuring staff is aware of beverage specials
-Observing customers as they enter the restaurant and assure they
are greeted promptly and properly and seated in a friendly
manner
-Monitoring and observing guests' dining experience, ensuring
guests are satisfied with the food and service
-Responding promptly and courteously to any requests
-Being available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth
operation of the lounge and restaurant
-Taking beverage orders from guests and servers
-Preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks
consistent with the Restaurant's standard drink recipes
-Presenting drink menus, making recommendations and answering
questions regarding beverages
-Up selling drink specials and food items as directed by
management
-Learning the names of patrons and personally recognizing
regulars
-Recording drink orders accurately and immediately into the Point
of Sale system
-Accepting guest payment, processing credit card charges and making
change (if applicable)
-Washing and sterilizing glassware and bar tools/utensils
-Preparing garnishes for all drinks and ensuring freshness,
labeling and properly rotating of product.
-Maintaining bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional
manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of
beverages
-Clearing and resetting tables in the bar area
-Maintaining cleanliness in all areas of the bar including
counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas
-Receiving and serving food orders to guests seated at the bar
-Reporting all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to
restaurant manager
-Washing glasses and dishes in the absence of the dishwasher and/or
as directed by the manager
-Ensuring the bar is ready for the next shift including completing
all necessary cleaning duties, ensuring the bar is up to health
code in all respects and checking out with a manger before
leaving
-Assisting the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and
supplies
-Completing all side-work duties
-Dropping cash in the end shift drop box
Abiding by legal standards and TIPS alcohol training guidelines for
alcohol service to guests
Working as a team member to maintain pleasant work environment:
-Maintaining positive inter-departmental relationships with the
hotel and with outside vendors
-Following the Carlson Attendance Policy
-Reporting to work dressed according to Carlson Grooming

-Giving personal attention, taking personal responsibility and
using teamwork when providing guest service

following through when resolving guest problems

ongoing basis
-Assuming the responsibility to notice when the guest is not
satisfied and using good judgment as to when it is appropriate to
use the 100% Guest Satisfaction
Performing other duties as required by management to provide 100%
Guest Satisfaction and genuine hospitality to our guest
Requirements/Skills
-Minimum two restaurant/lounge bartending experience, preferably in
a hotel or upscale environment
-High school diploma required
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Candidate must have exceptional people skills with the ability to
build trusting relationships
-Organizational, time management skills and the ability to network
within the business arena, a must have
-Knowledge of local, state and federal liquor laws and
regulations
-Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
-Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and have worked
with a Point of Sale system
Physical Demands
-Long hours are sometimes required, ability to work flexible
schedule
-Ability to stand for long periods of time
-Ability to lift 25 pounds on a regular basis and push or pull up
to 75 pounds
-Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment
