WE ARE We are seeking a Sr. Principal Software Architect to lead
the technical development of new software-based products and
programs. This engineer will work closely with our customers,
senior management, program managers, and cross-discipline technical
staff to thoroughly understand customer objectives, propose new
concepts, and then develop novel systems and solutions. This
engineer may also lead, support, or consult on Research and
Development projects that extend into advanced technology
exploration. -Expected responsibilities:
- Lead the architectural design and development of software
systems, ensuring they meet scalability, performance, and
reliability requirements.
- Define and document software architecture, including system
components, internal and external interfaces, and integration
patterns.
- Conduct technical feasibility studies and provide
recommendations for adopting new technologies, tools, and
frameworks.
- Collaborate with development teams to provide technical
guidance and oversight during the implementation phase.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure compliance with architectural
standards, best practices, and coding conventions.
- Identify technical risks and propose mitigation solutions to
manage and overcome challenges.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize the software architecture to
enhance system performance, maintainability, and
extensibility.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends,
and assess their potential impact on our software
solutions.Required Skills: -
- Typically requires minimum 10+ years of experience as a
Software Architect with a strong track record of leading teams in
designing, developing, integrating, testing, deploying, and
supporting complex software systems.
- In-depth knowledge of software architecture patterns, design
principles, and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to create the architectural vision for a
software system to guide developers, customers, and
stakeholders.
- Strong familiarity with common software development practices
(e.g., waterfall, Agile, DevOps)
- Proficiency in C++ programming in a Linux development
environment
- Experience using cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure,
OpenStack, OpenShift, & vRealize) to build and deploy software
infrastructure
- Familiarity with microservices architecture, containerization
(e.g., Docker), orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), and microservice
communication protocols (e.g., Kafka)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability
to tackle complex technical challenges
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the
ability to effectively convey technical concepts to customers,
senior management, and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience formalizing, developing, and writing system
requirements, plans, and procedures based on customer discussions,
briefings, interactions, and statements of work
- Experience leading the design and implementation of
high-performing external system interfaces to meet key metrics
(e.g., throughput, latency, scalability, security).
- Experience identifying, analyzing and resolving problems in all
phases of the system lifecycle
- Existing TS/SCI (or Active within the last 24 months)Desired
Skills:
- Strong understanding of broadband communications including
network operations, transport structures and switching and routing
equipment; or deep understanding of a related area and the
demonstrated ability to come up to speed quickly
- Understand common security product (Splunk, Lumension/Ivanti,
etc)
- Practical knowledge of telecommunications and computer network
configurations and developing proof-of-concept use case
scenarios.
- Experience with RF, Optics, or Telecommunications standards and
processing techniques
- Experience with large-scale formal System Engineering
methodologies.
- Adept at communicating (verbal and written) with all levels
within and outside the company, ability to prepare and deliver
presentations/summaries which appropriately address the intended
audience
- Conduct trade studies and being able to define system level
designs, high level control and data interface
- Existing TS/SCI clearance with Poly (or Active within the last
24 months)Required Education: Typically requires a degree in
Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a
minimum of 10+ years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited
by local laws/regulations. Relocation assistance available provided

for this role is 112,000 USD - 236,000 USD; however, Raytheon
Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer,
