The Editor/Writer plays a critical role in supporting the Fleet
Technical Documentation and Business Development organization and
is responsible for editing various writing assignments. As an
integral member of the documentation team, this individual works
closely with the writers, engineering team, business development,
finance, contracts, legal and subject matter experts to ensure,
high quality and compliant documents and proposals. The
Editor/Writer will review, edit and refine written material from
various authors into a single cohesive document, and ensure that
the final written response effectively communicates our intended
messages. This position requires an acute understanding of the
customer's needs, our capability, as well as having an effective
relationship with management, engineering and field technicians to
fully articulate in the Descriptive Operational Maintenance Manuals
and Standard Operating Procedures used by the fleet.
Provide editing and writing support to the Proposal Team
throughout the proposal development cycle to include all proposal
documents and executive summary materials.
Provide integrative editing and writing support to the fleet
documentation and operational manuals.
Interact with and maintain effective working relationships with
members of the Fleet Documentation Team, Proposal Development team,
as well as engineering, business development, finance, contracts,
legal and subject matter experts.
Adhere to established proposal and technical writing
Adhere to quality principles (responsive, accurate, concise, and
strategic), style guide, and other criteria for compelling and
Manage multiple projects with a sensitivity to tight deadlines
and to working in a collaborative group.
Demonstrate expertise in understanding, editing and writing
strategically in the aerospace and defense industry, as well as
critical thinking and flexibility to step in and analyze
opportunities and edit/refine proposals for newly acquired or
emerging businesses and markets
Bachelor Degree with a minimum of two (2) years of applicable
experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience
may also be considered. Degree in Technical writing, English,
Journalism, or Business preferred.
Preferred Additional Skills:
+ Editorial quality checks and writing experience desired
+ Demonstrated proposal writing experience
+ Analytical/critical-thinking skills for understanding complex
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and complex
environment; proactively seeking guidance on complex tasks, as
+ Ability to perform effectively under pressure and to practice
strong organizational skills when faced with multiple,
+ Strong interpersonal, communications, and negotiating
+ Solid critical thinking, problem resolution, and time
+ Working knowledge of Adobe, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, and
MS Power Point.
+ Applicant must currently possess or be able to obtain a Top
Secret Security Clearance.
+ Experience in authoring using Adobe FrameMaker or SGML/XML
electronic documentation desired, but not required.
