Description: Job Title: Power Electronics Controls Engineer Job Code: IMS20210404-59116 Job Location: Anaheim, CA Job Description: The ideal candidate is an exceptional visionary and an experienced medium to high power conversion controls design engineer. This position will have a solid understanding of power converters (AC to DC and DC to DC) or power inverters (DC to AC) control design principles, solid understanding of the various power converter and inverter topologies, and proven circuit analysis skills. This role will analyze customer technical requirements and develop the required study and simulations to ensure the adherence of the design to requirements. Essential Functions: + Design and investigation of high power converter/inverter cabinets + Develop control components for large AC Drive, Power Supply and other Power Electronics technologies + Develop test methods for design qualification; assist with the product development process from initial design testing to final quality testing + Interpret customer specifications to define requirements for control systems design + Perform control systems study of power conversion equipment and system architectures + Write product and test specifications pertaining to control systems + Work simultaneously on a variety of projects + Prepare and present internal and external technical design reviews + Review project progress and help in earned value reporting. Recommend corrections in technical approach to maximize efficiency of engineering resources. + Able to obtain and maintain a secret/security clearance Qualifications: + Bachelors Degree in Engineering and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience in design and analysis of control systems; or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 0 to 2 years of prior related experience + Knowledge of control theory and circuit analysis skills + Experience in use of system simulators such as Matlab/Simulink + Experience in the practical implementation of control system algorithms + Experience in C and C++ programming. Knowledge of working with object oriented programming language is a plus + Experience with Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project Preferred Additional Skills: + Experience developing models for high voltage, high energy power control & sensors processing, inversion, protection, management + Solid understanding of power conversion control principles + Experience in development of military products + Knowledge in Digital and Microcomputer circuits + Able to work as a key member of the design team with Power Design Engineers, Digital and Analog Engineers, System Engineers, Software Engineers and Mechanical Engineers + Excellent written and verbal communication skills L3Harris Technologies is proud to be an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
