Summary of Role:

The permit coordinator serves as the local field-based resource for applying, picking up, and delivering permits to job sites. They work directly with city and county building departments to ensure timely permit collection. Following standard operating procedures and communicating in real-time with supervisor, they will create transparency of lot and community level permit statuses. Must be organized, a team player, and dedicated to delivering results.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Use reports and dashboards within Salesforce to manage production pipeline
  • Deliver on team goals and meet service level agreements
  • Attend team meetings, production meetings with builder operations managers, and one on one calls with supervisor
  • Work closely with SunPower operations staff, design team, account managers and others internally as needed. Be involved in cross-team initiatives, projects, process updates, etc.
  • Develop/maintain a good rapport with building departments and home builder customers
  • Entry-level understanding of solar design plan sets: roof layouts, equipment specifications, single line diagrams
  • Entry-level understanding of state and local code requirements for photovoltaics
  • Follow company safety guidelines
  • Operate and maintain Company Vehicle
  • Be responsive and professional over email and calls
  • Guide internal and external teams to the specific building department process
  • Manage P-card and checkbook transactions to company standards
  • Manage personal work schedule
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1+ year experience managing permit process of any construction trade, preferably solar

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree preferred but can be substituted with 2 year's work experience

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to traverse/maneuver job site and survey/assess all aspects of the construction process for extended periods of time
  • Work in outdoor conditions: inclement weather, heat and humidity, cold and freezing temperatures, and exposure to poisonous plants, insects, and allergens
  • May be exposed to energized electrical equipment/construction chemicals and will be required to take appropriate precautions
  • Employee may handle work equipment and be required to lift, move and install materials up to 50+ pounds
  • Noise level is moderate but varies depending on location
  • Able to use and learn standard construction equipment/technology with proficiency
  • Typical work hours are M-F in 8-hour shifts, potential weekends
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and travel between warehouse and job sites
  • Visual acuity to drive motor vehicles/mobile equipment/read printed and electronic documents
  • Hearing capacity to receive, perceive and react to common driving/construction environment noises
  • Hearing capacity to receive, perceive and react to verbal commands/warnings

Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check, a 7-year driving history report, and a drug screen.
