Job Description:
Job Description Our client, an event fabrication company, is
searching for a Shop Foreman. The Shop Foreman leads and directs
the fabrication team in order to fabricate high quality assets on
time and within budget, while coordinating and communicating with
the Director of Design & Fabrication. The Shop Foreman oversees and
manages workflow processes to ensure production is maximized at its
lowest cost, highest quality while delivering within required
project timelines. Lead and coordinate the work activities of the
fabrication team. Review processing schedules or production orders
to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing
requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering
budgetary limitations and time constraints. Direct or coordinate
production output activities. Develop or implement production
tracking or quality control systems, analyzing production, quality
control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect
production problems. Review operations and confer with technical or
administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
Assist employees in resolving personnel grievances and escalate to
Human Resources when needed. Set and monitor product standards,
examining samples of raw products or directing testing during
processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
Coordinate inventory and cost control programs. Partner with the
Director of Design & Fabrication to coordinate or recommend
procedures for facility or equipment maintenance or modification,
including the replacement of machines. Review plans and confer with
research or support staff to develop new products or processes.
Maintain current knowledge of the quality control field, relying on
current literature pertaining to materials use, technological
advances, or statistical studies. As a Shop Foreman, the main
priority is safety. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards is a
must-have, and the candidate should be comfortable hosting weekly
meetings and touch on safety often, including proper knowledge of
procedures, practices and employment of safety measures for the
shop and personnel, respectively. Full understanding of PPE,
enforcement of its use and re-ordering is essential.
Lock-out/Tag-out, equipment use and training is incredibly
important as well, as is the knowledge for First Aid, emergency and
crisis procedures. Moving further into the job, the Shop Foreman
should have a basic-to-advanced understanding of literally every
tool and machine on the shop floor to be able to properly assess,
purchase, order, use, maintain, repair, mitigate risk or otherwise
---manage--- these assets in the shop environment to be certain the
shop is safe, efficient, effective and tools are being used and
taken care-of properly. Scheduling, time and project management all
factor into a job performed every minute by the Shop Foreman as he
or she designs the Shop Flow with every need factored. This
position is in the management seat of determining what hours, time
and personnel is needed to fabricate and finish jobs, ship them,
install them, then assess needs beyond installation by managing its
human resources to assign proper hours and staff to each job. This
includes the achievement of project deadlines including, but not
limited to: Project based deadlines, process deadlines, truck-pack
deadlines, load-in windows, load-out windows and all other
time-managed deadlines that pertain to fabrication. HR is a
necessary component to EVERY manager in California, and you will be
required to lead by example of proper decorum, behavior, skill and
respect while understanding the complex needs of our Team. From
team-building and unity to problem-solving, discipline and
dismissal, our expectation is that this Manager joins our team
leading our entire staff by example to create incredible things
with an attitude that commands respect and attention. Oversee and
manage the weekly production schedule. Coordinate with Director of
Design & Fabrication to ensure inventory is stocked for production.
Coordinate with the Purchasing team to ensure materials are ordered
and received in time for scheduled production. Meets with the
Fabrication team daily to review quality, production capacity, and
production costs. Responsible for insuring that all shop employees
follow documented instructions given in the build doc in order to
control product quality throughout the fabrication process. Review
shop drawings before approving to move into production. Provide
training and education to staff on new equipment, new systems and
protocols to improve production quality. Review and approve
timesheets and timecards. Ensure housekeeping is ongoing and
maintain a clean, organized and safe workplace. Oversee fabrication
shop asset deliveries with the Operations team. Provide guidance
and leadership to all employees to ensure effective and efficient
flow of work, and ensure all employees recognize their fundamental
role in the production process. Provide internal QA/QC on all
outgoing projects. Assist with value engineering with alternative
materials and processes. Partner with the Director of Design &
Fabrication to direct facility maintenance or repair activities.

jacks), Planes (Hand planes), Power saws, Saws (Hand saws),
Scaffolding, Slings (Material-hoisting slings), Track cranes
(Overhead cranes), Utility knives, Winches (Hydraulic winches),
Wrapping machinery QUALIFICATIONS: 8 Years of related experience 8
Years of production and fabrication experience HS Diploma/GED
