Description:The shipping and receiving specialist position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.Primary Functions and Responsibilities:Prints and verifies accuracy of ship tickets to ensure proper delivery.Verifies accuracy of all incoming shipments against packing slips/purchase orders and then receive all transactions in the computer system.Verify COAs and/or COCs to outbound packing slips and shipments.Responsible for creating packing slips and bill of ladings for all outgoing shipments.Creates box labels for all outgoing shipments including, but not limited to UPS and FedEx.Verify internal transfer sheets between the warehouse and the plant in both directions.Enters material information into the Inventory System (ERP)Participates in process of supplying Finished Goods Inventory (FGI) to Shipping to ensure First In, First Out (FIFO) method.Must be familiar with the use of computer programs and proficient with data entryUnpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Receives and processes all defective parts returned for replacement or credit.Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.Maintains inbound and outbound shipment log.Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.Supports the shipment of goods produced and the received goods and supplies to be used in or to aid in the production/storage of goods destined for sale to our customer base.Responsible for making arrangements for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer's purchase order, which is conveyed to the shipping clerk by final inspection via the shipping instructions.Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.Responsible for keeping an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times.Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.Operates lift trucks or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas.Reads and responds to all emails in a professional and timely manner.Must be able to read and understand job bags.Works with the logistics coordinator in the training of new hires.Fills in for the logistics coordinator when necessary (ie. During PTO or any absence).Ability to drive 26 feet box truck to and from production facility when needed.Works with all departments within Brook & Whittle as well as external vendors/contacts in a professional manner.Adheres to all company policies and procedures.Competencies:Organizational Skills.Technical Capacity.Initiative.Thoroughness.Time Management.Communication Proficiency..
