Job DescriptionRECEIVERThe Receiver is responsible for the
verification and maintenance of records, such as manifests,
invoices, or orders to verify accuracy on incoming and outgoing
shipments. Duties include verifying and recording incoming and
outgoing merchandise or material and arranging items for shipments
and the maintenance of inventory. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items
unloaded from railroad cars, trucks and trailers; checks against
suppliers' count and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers,
supervisor, and purchasing officer per company policy.
- Verifies and records all items loaded for shipments are
accurate.
- Carefully and accurately maintains shipping records for
requested categories including goods returned, dunnage, and
returnable pallets.
- Maintains database of shipment data to ensure that customer
orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are
provided to accounting or other associated departments as
required.
- Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or
substitutions.
- Prepares bills of lading and day tickets for shipments.
- Completes information on damage claims for in-transit
damage.
- Transports materials on shipping dock with a hand truck or
other vehicle as needed.
- Understanding of written sentences and paragraphs in work
related documents.
- Requires meeting strict deadlines to satisfy organizational or
customer needs.
- Use of computers, tablets, or hand-held devices to keep track
of materials for inventory and shipment.
- Loads trucks or railroad car using a forklift as required.
- Performs other clerical duties as required. Required
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items
received.
- Basic understanding of railway, dock, and warehouse
procedures.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory
software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.
- Compile reports on various aspects of materials for shipments
or inventory. Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 2 – 5 years of experience in the safe operations of forklifts
is highly preferred.Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a
variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching,
squatting, and reaching.
- This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting,
while working either indoors or outdoors.
- Must be in adequate physical condition to perform requirements
such as mental, physical and manual dexterity, hand/grip strength,
depth perception and any other physical attributes that enable the
employee to perform the job safely according to all Company, Local,
State, and Federal regulations and requirements.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to push/pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Must wear prescribed personal protective equipment when
handling material or operating equipment.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and
temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock. Other
Requirements:
- Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment and required
drug screens as requested.
- Must be able to successfully pass a Physical Capacity
