POSITION SUMMARY:

The Personal Lines Insurance Consultant assists members in completing a quote and applications to obtain a Personal Lines Insurance policy over the phone and/or online. This position provides specific, accurate and timely information to members regarding Personal Lines of Insurance and is responsible for educating members regarding the options available to help determine the best coverage for their specific needs. This individual works with constant supervision and direction and is authorized to take reasonable actions necessary to carry out the assigned responsibilities of the position, provided that such action is consistent with cost-effective practices and is consistent with the policy and procedures of Wescom Credit Union.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Makes a combination of outbound and inbound phone calls/emails to obtain information necessary to accurately assess and quote insurance. Follow up referrals and make outbound phone calls/emails necessary to obtain information. Expect a minimum of 3 outbound calls per lead in order to make contact with member. The initial call must be made the same day of receipt of the referral.

Obtains relevant information based on member needs. Input data into insurance quoting software program to obtain a variety of price quotes.

Evaluates the prospects insurance needs and recommends coverages and additional policies to meet their needs. Identifies policy cross selling opportunities.

Analyses quote results to determine best product recommendations to service member's needs. Advise and consult with member about available products and services, pricing, and suitability for member's needs.

Walks the member through completion of paperwork and gathers required documentation necessary to bind insurance.

Upon completion and submission of paperwork by member, performs final review of paperwork to ensure completeness and accuracy, follows up with insured upon issue of policy and responds to any memos the new submission generates

Submits New Business form along with application/documentation to department coordinator for review and input into the agency management system (AMS360).

Tracks and updates referral status in the referral data base to ensure follow up and final results.

Manage the overall execution and fulfillment of sales milestones and goals as suggested by management. Including, but not limited to production goals, referral closure ratio and multi-policy objectives.

Actively solicit prospects to increase policies in a manner consistent with marketing plans.

Work with team members in a cooperative spirit to share information, knowledge and resources to accomplish the goals of the department.

Perform additional functions at the direction of management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

High School graduate.

Previous financial industry and customer service experience preferred.

Minimum of 3 years in quoting and writing personal lines new business.

Must be able to communicate insurance terminology. Intermediate math skills to sum quotes; calculate percentages ratios related to insurance quotes.

Ability to operate proprietary software, to enter data and generate quotes, FSC required and AMS360 or other agency management software preferred.

Excellent communication, ember service, and telephone etiquette skills are necessary to communicate with members effectively.

Good decision making and judgment abilities to ensure the highest level of standards and guidelines of the insurance program are maintained.

Read and comprehend department and vendor, policies and procedures, standards and guidelines.

The job is typically sedentary but may require standing and walking up to 15% of the work time to handle paperwork, ask questions, and related activities.

Requires travel to off-site locations for meetings, training and various sales events.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be proficient in technology applications including the Credit Union's operating system and specialized software required for performance of position

Proficient in Comparative Rater Quoting System (FSC) and Agency Management System (AMS360)

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
